Human Waste Can Be Now Converted Into Fuel

carNo one would have ever thought that human waste can be converted into car fuel but Toyota has done it recently.

Toyota launched its hydrogen fuel car ‘Mirai’ which will be use hydrogen fuel stations producing fuel through human waste. The first such hydrogen station is in Fukuoka, Japan in a wastewater treatment plant.

The waste from the plant is distributed in solid and liquid, then the liquid is mixed with microorganisms to break it creating methane and carbon dioxide. On addition of water hydrogen is produced.

The plant produces 300 kg oxygen per day, enough for the 65 Mirai cars, if all the biogas is converted into oxygen then it can fuel 600 cars a day.
