National Cycling Champion Sabia Abbat is an inspiration to Pakistani women as she continues to follow her dream her passion without the fear of what people might think of her.
Sabia has been a sports enthusiastic woman since her college days. She has represented her college at various competitions which she said helped her to come all the way.
Sabia Abbat is the first woman to win the National Cycling Championship from Hazara Division. She is also the first women to stand out in the cycling sport since 1996, when the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association (KPCA) was formed.
Sabia was born and brought up in a small village in Haripur, where women are not allowed to openly participate in sports. Sabia says that breaking away from the tradition wasn’t easy but my parents supported me throughout my career.
Sabia is an army athlete and also holds a bachelor degree in physical education.
