Advocate Faiz Syed was asked whether man and woman can talk and meet after engagement? To which he replied that no it is not allowed.
He further explained that even after engagement fiancée remain na-mehram and it is not allowed to talk to him, meet him or shake hands with her.
Usually in our environment engagement is seen like a religious thing but in religion only Nikah matters, if you are married you are husband and wife and if you are not married then you are not mahram.
He said we do not follow the customs of people rather we follow the commands of Allah.
