Hamdard Organises First Ever Hakim Said Awards

Karachi: Hamdard Laboratories held the first ever Hakim Said Awards at Mohatta Palace. The event did not only give accolades to national heroes, but it also celebrated the rebranding of Hamdard as it unveiled its new logo and TV commercial.

While addressing the gathering, he said that Hamdard has taken a thoughtful initiative in order to honour the heroes of Pakistan. He recalled that Hakim Muhammad Said lived an unimpeachable life as a true patriot and philanthropist, which is nothing but exemplary.

Hamdard was founded by Hakim Mohammad Said, the brand that is greatly known for its herbal medicines and Rooh Afza, beverage syrup that is highly popular not only in Pakistan but the whole Eastern region. Said is also remembered for his irrevocable love and services for the country and his term as the Governor of Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Hamdard Mrs. Sadia Rashid, daughter of Hakim Mohammad Said, said that Hamdard is taking the ideology of Hakim Said forward with the implementation of free clinics, hospitals, mother and child centres, educational institutes and other charitable activities nationwide. She emphasized that the company still continues to strive hard to develop in accordance with modern times.

The other highlights of the night comprised of a narration of the simple yet successful life of Hakim Said by Talat Hussain. The famous comic poet Anwar Masood also entertained the audience with his satirical pieces. The ceremony ended with an uplifting qawali performance by Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammad, which was a great addition to the grandeur of the whole ceremony.

“We are improving and growing with passion and hardwork towards excellence”, said the CEO and MD of Hamdard, Usama Qureshi. He shed a light on the vision of the company as told by Hakim Mohammad Said that is, ‘Love Pakistan, Build Pakistan’. He revealed that Hamdard is embarking on a new corporate journey with a passion greater than ever before. During his speech, Qureshi said that Hamdard feels immensely humbled to accolade the people who have made the nation proud.

A bravery award was given to Shaheed Itiezaz Ahsan, who demonstrated sheer bravery and selfless sacrifice by stopping a suicide bomber from entering his school and saving hundreds of other children. The award was received by his father, Mujahid Ali Bangash. This was succeeded by a standing ovation from the audience.

The awards were given to the national heroes who have provided commendable services in their respective fields and achieved new heights. These people include Dr. Adib Hassan Rizvi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Anwar Maqsood, Bushra Rehman, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sister Ruth Lewis, Dr. Atta Ur Rehman, Dr Abdul Bari, and Masood Ahmed Barkati.

Stressing on the importance of determination, Governor Sindh said that he is proud of the fact that Hamdard is incorporating measures to not only make a difference, but also acknowledge those who have made a difference.
