World’s Tallest Dam Is Being Constructed In Asia

tajikistan damWorld’s tallest dam is being built in Tajikistan with a planned height of 1,100 feet (335meter). After completion Tajikistan’s “Rogun Dam” will be 30 meter taller than the Chinese Jinping-1 Hydropower station.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have opposed the project claiming that water could be diverted from their wheat and cotton fields. But after assessment World Bank allowed the project for construction rejecting the reservations of neighboring countries.

The plan was prepared 40 years ago by Soviet Union but after its collapse and starting of civil war in Tajikistan the plan was delayed, now it is being constructed by a Italy based company at a cost of $3.9 billion.
