8th October 2005 Earthquake That Destroyed Families

The peace and beauty of Azad Kashmir and Northern areas were disturbed on the morning of 8th October 2005 when a 7.9 earthquake hit that area.

The devastating earthquake killed at least 87,350 according to official figures, but many believe that more 100,000 people lost their lives. 138,000 were injured and around 3.5 million people were homeless.

At this critical moment many organization came forward to help the survivors, including Pakistani Islamic Medical Association (PIMA).

In the first week of earthquake PIMA provided medical assistance to 100,000 victims with their 198 members, 6 hospitals and multiple mobile teams.
