Aga Khan University Tops HEC ranking for Medical Universities

Karachi: The Aga Khan University has maintained its position as the top medical university in Pakistan for the fifth time in a row in the ranking released by the Higher Education Commission – the primary regulatory body of higher education in the country.

AKU was also ranked as the top private university and fifth of 129 public and private universities in different categories – including general, engineering and technology, business education, agriculture and veterinary, medicine, and arts and design.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, HEC unveiled the ranking on February 23 in Islamabad. Previously, rankings were announced in 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

In the medical category, AKU was ranked as the best of 13 universities, including University of Health Sciences, Dow University of Health Sciences and Khyber Medical University.

The parameters considered in a comprehensive selection process included quality assurance, teaching quality, research, finance and facilities, and social integration or community development.
