AKU to host golf tournament for a cause

Karachi: The Aga Khan University will host a golf tournament for a cause – inviting individuals and corporates to sponsor congenital heart disease (CHD) surgeries of indigent patients – on March 20 at the Karachi Golf Club.

In Pakistan, more than 50,000 infants are born with CHD every year and 15,000 of them are critical cases that require immediate treatment.

Seventy per cent of CHD patients at AKUH come from families without the financial means to afford the cost of outstanding surgical and medical care.

Funds raised through the tournament will go to the Hospital’s Patient Welfare Programme, which has assisted over 1.58 million patient visits with Rs 6.68 billion since its inception in 1986.
