Karachi: K-Electric has issued a press statement in which the company has announced that the Operation Burq Campaign is in full swing against defaulters and power thieves from different areas of the city. K-Electric’s team raided parts of Gulistan-e-Johar where multi-story projects involved in electricity theft and defaults were targeted and the ‘illegal wiring network’ weighing around 350 KG was confiscated.
Statement added that these multi-story projects which were chronic defaulters of millions of rupees and resorting to electricity theft, included Citizen View, Piprany Height, Sun Beam, Yasir View, Al- Sayed, Hyder Height and Shazma Height. The hook connections used by these projects included 35 MM cable of about 28 meters and 60 MM cable of 90 meters. The residents were caught red-handed and found guilty of stealing approximately 1.2 million units of electricity from K-Electric.
In another similar raid, the Operation Burq team took stringent action against another multi-story project called Foundation Blessing and removed 88 hook connections of 35 mm. This project caused KE losses of millions as well every month and the illegal connections were removed on the spot and the culprits penalised.
