Jamaat-e-Islami’s Official Facebook Page along with two other JI pages were removed by Facebook at the same day when Indian authorities sealed Jamaat-e-Islami’s office in Occupied Kashmir and arrested its workers.
Jamaat-e-Islami claimed that the official page was removed by Facebook to silence the Kashmiri Resistance, they called it a cyber war.
In past Facebook had removed Anti-Apartheid Palestinian pages, banned Hamza Ali Abbasi’s page for supporting cause of Kashmir, and just recently it openly stuck a deal with Israeli Authorities.
Questions are being raised by activists that the notion of Freedom of Speech is used by western media and social media giants like Facebook as a tool to support the atrocities committed by countries like Israel and India.
It has been observed that they allow the right to support Israel, they allow sharing Indian perspective about Occupied Kashmir, but they will not allow anyone to raise voice for Human Rights violations in Kashmir where India killed more than 100 protestors, blinded partially or completely about 750 civilians, injured 10,000 people and arrested around 3500 protestors.
Facebook is a network where people from different continents, with different perspectives and background are connected. Facebook should respect their political views rather than adopting one view and silencing the others.
